Characteristics of the project
This project has as objectives to get involved secondary school students in designing, building and launching a satellite. It is a 3 -year-old project.
During this project, different schools around the world, will work together learning different concepts about aerospace and climate change.
It will be a learning process where different subjects from school curricula can work in a cooperative way.
And within that time, it will be created a group of linked schools that will enable to link communities from different countries.
Course organisation
The courses involved can start at any age, but it would be better to target it to students in K8 because they need some skills in Computer Technology. But students from lower courses can participate in the project with a teacher guided work.
The project can be oriented in 3 ways:
▶ As a structure for project working: the first three hours in the morning with normal classes, and the 2 hours post morning break dedicated to the project.
▶ Different subjects involved should dedicated some of their classes and curriculum to the project.
▶ Or create a group subject dedicated to the project.
That structure will depend on the characteristics of the schools involved.
To facilitate flexibility, the curricula will be organized in modules. Educational Material from ESERO would be used, together with an adaptation of their own curriculum, related to the project.
